Dear Families,

CVA teaches some classes through North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS). The NCVPS calendar does not always align with the Cabarrus County Schools calendar. There are times when CCS is out for a workday and NCVPS is not.  This week CCS is out on Tuesday; however, students in NCVPS courses will have 5 days of assignments.  Students can work ahead on Monday so that they can take Tuesday off too.  

On Thursday, October 2, CVA will hold a Curriculum Night and Program Choice Open House.  More details will be shared in next weeks newsletter.

If your student has not signed up to explore careers using the virtual reality goggles, I encourage you to review the information below.  

Wednesday we welcome Math III and English II students to campus for the benchmark.  We expect the test to take between two and two and a half hours.

Middle School Update - Weekly Meetings

In order to meet the needs of all our middle school students and support their learning, we have begun weekly check-ins. Students who come in-person on Thursdays will meet individually with their homeroom teacher for a few minutes to check their grades and progress. If your student does not come in on Thursdays, they will be required to meet with their homeroom teacher on Teams during their office hours on the following Monday or Tuesday. 

Office hours for 8th grade are from 9:30-10:30 with Mrs. Hartke. Sixth and seventh grade students can meet with me during my office hours from 10:30-11:30. Office hours are drop-in and students can join anytime during the hour. This check-in time will be in addition to the Monday morning homeroom meetings.

Mark your calendar....

Mark your calendars now for fall testing at CVA.  CVA students are expected to attend all testing dates.  If you know of a conflict, email Lauren Hawkins Helotie at lauren.hawkins@cabarrus.k12.nc.us so she can plan makeup testing as needed. Thank you in advance for ensuring students are able to attend testing sessions this semester!
